The title of this blog is one I never thought I would write because Team Chad has always had awesome supporters. However, this past Friday night the Team Chad Sip, Support and Celebrate event in Nashville demonstrated exactly what caliber of people associate themselves with Team Chad.
Let me tell the story, Sip, Support and Celebrate is a wine tasting event at Richland Country Club to help raise money and awareness for Team Chad. It is the annual flagship event for Team Chad. During the event we conduct both a silent and live auction. This year, in celebration of the season I am about to embark upon we decided that it was a good idea for me to bring along with bike to show all of our supporters what we had in store over the next 12 months. You know, this one: Well, as we expected the bike was a big hit and garnered a lot of curious onlookers. Right as the live auction was about to start the auctioneer asked me to step up on stage and say a few words about my season. I shared the story with the crowd and turned the mic back over to the auctioneer.
That is when the magic happened. He started imploring the crowd to show their support for Team Chad through donating a certain amount of money per mile that I was going to race next year. For simplicity purposes we just rounded to 1,000 miles over the course of the season. The donations starting coming in. Within 5 minutes, that’s right – 5 minutes, we were all done. At the end of that 5 minutes I was moved by what just happened. We raised approximately $17,000 in those few short minutes for Team Chad.
This is just the beginning. It is now time to begin spreading the word far and wide about Team Chad. I, from the bottom of my heart, want to thank everyone that showed their support to the cause this past Friday night. It is my hope that others will follow this amazing lead and give generously to Team Chad over the next 12 months.
