There it is..the tentative schedule for all of 2014.  I am happy I end the season in Tennessee.  It will be at a race that has punished me over the past few years.  It will have a different feeling this year.  I am sure it will still hurt….I will still suffer…but it will be amazing to conclude a year for Team Chad so close to home.

Six Months Down – Six to Go

Today I sat down to try and plan the balance of my race series.  This process was daunting and it created a bit of unease.  27 races is a lot of races to do in the span of a normal triathlon career (for a weekend warrior like myself).  27 races is a heck of a lot of races to do in 12 months.  27 races in 6 months..well you get the idea.  It caused me some deal of anxiety as I saw where these final 6 months would take me.  From California to Michigan to Virginia to Florida and maybe even Texas.  This does not include all the states in between.  In the back of my mind I thought to myself that this doesn’t seem possible.  But then I recall what the past 6 months.

Since July of 2013 I have raced in the following states:

Maryland, South Carolina, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Georgia, Florida and California (seems like there were more).  I traveled over 10,000 miles by car and to California and Florida by air.  I survived over 500 miles of racing without any major injuries or set backs.  I have seen some amazing things and met wonderful people.  I have raced through tough conditions (from 100 degree weather to 30 degree weather).  I have raced through torrential downpours that kept the spectators in their cars.  I have been able to show my son amazing parts of our country from camping on the banks of the Mississippi river in Iowa to the Lincoln Memorial in D.C.  And best of all, we are accomplishing what we set out to do.  We are raising awareness and money for Team Chad from all over the United States.  We have taken Team Chad outside of the confines of Tennessee.  I am hopeful that this will inspire others to continue their support for Team Chad and maybe recognize the need for the continued partnership with all charities of this sort across the country.

So, the next 6 months will be challenging.  Looking at the tentative schedule does give me a bit of chills.  However, it also excites me.  I am ready to get back on the road and tackle the last 27 races of this epic season.  I am hoping to make a massive push to the final.  I am going to call on our supporters to do the same.  I am hoping that fellow Team Chad triathletes will come out and race with me when they get a chance.  If you can’t race I am hoping you will dig deeply into your wallet.

A tentative race schedule will be posted in the next few days.  Get excited.
